Ferry to the Oreshek Fortress

Oreshek Fortress is an ancient Russian fortress on Orekhovy Island at the source of the Neva River, opposite the town of Shlisselburg in the Leningrad Region. Founded in 1323, it belonged to the Swedes from 1612 to 1702.
The fortress, occupying the entire territory of the island, has the shape of an irregular triangle stretched from east to west. Five towers are located along the perimeter of the fortress walls. One of them—the Gate Tower—is quadrangular, while the rest are round. Inside the fortress, in its northeastern corner, rises the citadel.
Seven towers were located along the outer perimeter of the fortress. Three more defended the inner citadel.

Excursion to the Historic Benois Apartment with Tea and a Mini-Concert

In 1794, a confectioner named Louis Jules César Auguste Benois came to Russia. He gave rise to a family that produced numerous architects, artists, musicians, actors, and art critics. They had an enormous influence on the appearance of St. Petersburg and the artistic life of Russia as a whole.
Now members of the Benois family live in France and Germany, Argentina and Australia, Armenia and Finland. Descendants of this famous family also live in St. Petersburg, in the very apartment of the very house that Professor of Architecture Leontiy Nikolaevich Benois built at the end of the 19th century according to his own design.
We are going to visit the great-great-granddaughter of the architect – Anastasia. As the hostess, she will show us the apartment, which is still filled with art. Remember the famous Benois Madonna painted by Leonardo? Before it ended up in the Hermitage, its place was right here.
We will admire the authentic interiors from the early 20th century, family portraits, watercolors, fireplaces, and personal belongings of the representatives of this artistic family.
