Oreshek Fortress is an ancient Russian fortress on Orekhovy Island at the source of the Neva River, opposite the town of Shlisselburg in the Leningrad Region. Founded in 1323, it belonged to the Swedes from 1612 to 1702.
\nThe fortress, occupying the entire territory of the island, has the shape of an irregular triangle stretched from east to west. Five towers are located along the perimeter of the fortress walls. One of them\u2014the Gate Tower\u2014is quadrangular, while the rest are round. Inside the fortress, in its northeastern corner, rises the citadel.
\nSeven towers were located along the outer perimeter of the fortress.
